Using a machine safely in Holbeach St Johns PE12 8 is important. If you want to be able to use major vehicles or operate ancillary equipment site-wide, then you need at least the bare minimum of safety training and a full dumper course.
However, the practical skills involved in something like forward-tipping dumper training are invaluable. Legally, you can't use most large machines until the successful completion of the associated training requirements.
Our training courses - such as the CPCS dumper course - are designed to provide both safety training and basic knowledge of how to operate safely and efficiently, along with more advanced practical tests that other training providers simply do not offer.
Please note: you may receive multiple responses to your enquiry - this is to ensure that you are getting the best price available!
A dumper course is more than just a guide on how to drive the machine safely. Having a basic understanding of how a forward-tipping dumper works is useful, but that is not enough to get you a trained operator card.
You need to know the necessary safety precautions, understand how relevant gas or diesel engines work and have a full understanding of how varying site conditions can impact a vehicle's use or performance.
You also need to be aware of the limitations of each machine, apply your knowledge in a careful and calculated way, and generally be aware of safety issues or other threats that might make it difficult to use a forward-tipping dumper in a real-world situation.
Our training is aimed at a full overview of vehicles like the humble forward-tipping dumper, helping you get your bearings with the vehicle before you put it into a practical, real-world situation.
Our Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) technical tests include details like:
PowerPoint presentations and other direct training are involved in a lot of our CPCS dumper courses, especially at an early stage. We make sure that trainees understand everything that they possibly can about a forward-tipping dumper before taking a practical test to drive one.
Driving on both worksites and a public highway can be important for larger-scale operations, and we train our candidates on how to do both while still practising core health and safety routines or techniques.
We make sure that our successful candidates have received training in how to use their vehicle according to the manufacturers' instructions. This is to prevent misuse of a large vehicle, such as taking dangerous shortcuts with unloading forward-tipping dumpsters.
This also includes techniques that are accepted good practice - things that operators with limited (or no) experience would otherwise need to learn on the job.
All of our candidates receive training on how to inspect a vehicle before using it. This covers all types of dumper, from a large dumper truck to a mini dumper, as well as forward-tipping dumpers and other specific designs.
Everything needs to be checked regularly: lubrication systems, driving, loading, steering, braking, and even using the seat belt. Large vehicles are incredibly dangerous if mishandled.
We can train operators on the routine servicing procedures of their vehicles and how to carry them out effectively. This includes both major maintenance and vehicle care, as well as minor adjustments that might be required to keep the dumper operating at its full potential.
CSCS Health and Safety
Current health and safety standards are covered in our CSC health & safety training material, especially vehicle-specific details relating to certain functions or common uses. In the case of dumper training, this might mean safe dumping practices or clear area checks.
Alongside health and safety training, we also run special tests relating to identifying safe and unsafe conditions, as well as safe ways to use a vehicle.
The primary test we run for this kind of work is the CITB Health Safety and Environment Touchscreen Test, as well as other training types. This CITB Health Safety and Environment test is a core part of our program.
We make sure that our training involves practical demonstrations, allowing a trainee to earn their trained operator card and formal qualification through displays of real-world skill in a safe environment.
Without practical skills, trainees cannot complete the CPCS technical test - a vital part of the course content that earns them their competent operator card and allows them to work with these vehicles on job sites.
Cards
Our CPCs trained operator card is like a verification badge, proving that the trainee has completed all necessary CPCS technical tests in the CPCS dumper course. A CPCS trained operator card is only given out after training is complete.
If you are interested in signing up for the training or know somebody who can benefit from this kind of experience, then get in touch and arrange to join. Our staff can provide plenty of further information on the kinds of training we offer, how it works, and what the benefits are.
There is a lot to cover when it comes to dumper training, and not all of the training points will be immediately obvious. However, they are all necessary to use a large vehicle like a dumper without putting others in danger.
